Caroline Baylon, our Director of International Partnerships and Head of International Relations, hosted a roundtable discussion with Dr de Souza and staff from Bath, exploring potential areas for collaboration in research and teaching between the two universities.

Dr de Souza was then taken on a tour of our campus, and for lunch with a number of our academic staff, before visiting the Innovation Centre in town.

The trip to Bath also allowed Dr de Souza to return a visit to Professor Brian Squire in our Information, Decisions & Operations research group. Professor Squire spent time in Singapore with Dr de Souza and The Logistics Institute earlier this year, and the two groups are now exploring a number of opportunities for future collaborations.

Ms Baylon said: “This visit to Bath by Dr de Souza further develops our relationship with the National University of Singapore, the leading university in Singapore and an institution which is concerned with many of the same issues in society that we are here at Bath. Our research overlaps and complements in many areas, and as a result a number of collaborations are likely to be beneficial to both us and NUS.”

This visit follows a number of trips made by delegations from both Bath and NUS over the past six months, which have included relationship building between academic teams and industry partners in both countries.

Follow-up visits to and from the University are now being planned.
