Following the advertising of a new Chief Digital Officer (CDO) role, we are pleased to announce that Gavin Edwards, DDaT’s current Chief Data and Technology Officer, has been promoted into the role of CDO from 9th June 2025.

Gavin is an experienced leader who has spent the majority of his career in the Higher Education sector in the UK: chiefly, working within various IT roles at the University of Warwick (which included a secondment to Jaguar Land Rover) and the University of Bath. Gavin also worked for IAAPS Ltd from 2019 to 2022 in the role of Operations and IT Director.

As CDO, Gavin will work closely with the University Executive Board to ensure the Digital and Technology requirements are aligned with the University Strategy.

Gavin will lead DDaT going forward working with the team on delivering the University’s digital and technology priorities. This is an incredibly important appointment for the University and comes at a time when the University has an emerging new strategic plan that requires great leadership, focus and team effort for effective delivery. In his time at the University, Gavin has demonstrated that he has all the technical knowledge, experience and engagement skills required to work with his team and deliver for the University.
