Director of Advancement, Gordon Cox, will be leaving the University of Bath in February to take up the role of Director at the Philanthropy Company.

Gordon has been responsible for multiple achievements since joining us in January 2022 including restructuring the Advancement Office, reinvigorating engagement with our global community through events, chapters and communications and bringing back coordinated alumni engagement. Gordon raised some of the largest gifts in the institution’s history including a £2 million gift for a Chair of Life Sciences and a £670,000 gift towards PhD scholarships. Last year was also one of the most successful years for new pledges in the University's history, with 77% of that from alumni.

Gordon will remain in role until February with the aim of a smooth transition to his replacement. Recruitment to the role has begun, with a selection process of shortlisting and interviews with the aim of appointing before the end of the calendar year.

Gordon said: “Thank you to colleagues and the Advancement Office for all your support over the past few years, the successes we have seen in the last few years wouldn't have been possible without the help of others.

“A huge thanks to our alumni and donors for welcoming me into their community and giving so generous their advice, time and money to support the advancement of the University. The University of Bath is a special community, and I am grateful to have been a part of it.”
