The Royal Society is inviting UK-based researchers and public engagement professionals to contribute to a national conversation about the future of public engagement with research.

This short survey is open to individuals at all career stages, whether you’re actively involved in public engagement or not. Your insights will help shape how engagement is supported and prioritised across the research sector.

Why take part?

The 2025 survey builds on previous studies from 2006 and 2015, offering a valuable opportunity to reflect on how public engagement has evolved and where it’s heading. The findings will inform future policies and initiatives to better support researchers in their engagement efforts.

The survey explores:

  • what public engagement means in 2025
  • its role and value in the research landscape
  • key enablers, barriers, and opportunities
  • how engagement can be better supported
  • changes in perceptions and practices over time

How to get involved

Find out more and complete the survey by 30 June 2025 because your input is valuable in identifying challenges and areas for improvement.
