On 26 May, the Digital team will roll out a dynamic new design for the University’s homepage. The new design will visually align the University homepage with our current Lens design system pages while adding functionality. This includes:

  • an enhanced, more impactful Hero component (the top section of the page) that’s capable of displaying photography or video
  • a prominent Hero-component search function, which visitors can filter, in advance, by theme
  • the option for multiple Calls to action in the Hero component
  • a greater variety of visually striking components for adding content throughout the page
  • additional templates for takeover layouts to promote events like Open Days and graduation ceremonies

The benefits of the redesigned University homepage

The new, streamlined design has been created to make it easier to find information, while presenting a more modern and appealing first impression to all visitors to our website.

Meanwhile, for affected Typecase users, the new design’s enhanced functionality will make updating our University homepage easier to do, while offering flexibility to tailor content over different takeover layouts for special occasions like:

  • graduations ceremonies
  • Open Days
  • national events

This improved functionality will provide a solid, user-friendly foundation for our homepage. It has been made possible in part through the website project, which has enabled us to use hero video content.

Two strategic projects are likely to lead to further enhancements of our website:

  • the Global Voice and Reputation project will lead to changes to the look and feel of our website
  • our website project, which is currently in its initial stages, will start with a discovery and research phase, and will be looking at all aspects of our University website and associated sites
