We are delighted to host the return of University of Bath Global Chair, Professor Timothy Mitchell.

Professor Mitchell was the University of Bath Global Chair for the 2018 – 2019 academic year. His appointment has been funded by the International Relations Office’s Global Chair scheme, a flagship programme designed to attract distinguished, globally renowned scholars to engage in high-profile research activities at Bath.

Professor Mitchell is a world renowned political theorist and historian, and is currently Professor of Middle Eastern, South Asian and Africa Studies and of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

This week he joins us at the University for a full programme of activities including: a Public Lecture on 14 January entitled ‘"Goodbye Green Growth"? Why problem of growth misidentifies our predicament’; and an informal seminar for staff and students on 15 January, on capitalism and climate change.

During his time with us, he will also meet with colleagues from across the University, including the Departments of Social and Policy Sciences, and Politics, Languages and International Studies.

Professor Mitchell will also give a Public Lecture in London, co-hosted with the UCL Institute of Advanced Studies.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Professor Mitchell, and look forward to working with him over the coming week.
