This Award is made in recognition of accomplishment in research combined with a significant contribution to teaching (including pastoral support for students).
Dr Gonzalez was selected by the Committee for this Award for having shown both an enthusiasm for his subject and a high level of commitment to engaging, supporting and inspiring his students.
Dr Gonzalez has successfully brought current science into the classroom through innovative laboratory classes and research-informed teaching. He was also acknowledged as a highly successful research scientist, widely disseminating his work within the University and beyond, through international conferences and journals and regular public engagement.
It was felt that his excellent reputation for research and teaching, and the pastoral support he gives his students made Dr Gonzalez highly deserving of this award.
