Dear colleagues,

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank everyone who played a part in making our Open Day last Saturday a huge success. I am sure you will agree, the atmosphere on campus was lively and engaging and I heard a lot of positive comments from prospective students and their families. In fact, of the almost 500 survey responses received since Saturday, 92% of respondents rated the Open Day excellent (58%) or good (34%) and 82% of potential UG applicants stated they were ‘more likely to apply’ after attending. That feedback is a credit to all who took part.

Open Days are a unique opportunity to showcase our University and we welcomed thousands of visitors both in June and September this year. These events are critical to the Universities success. For the majority of prospective students, it would have been their first time on campus and their experience at an Open Day will have a major impact on whether they choose to study with us.

I am always very impressed by the sheer effort of so many people working to ensure the event goes smoothly. The preparation starts a long time in advance to ensure the campus looks its best and our visitors get the right first impression. So whether you were giving a talk, setting up in the early hours, leading a tour, staffing an information stand, serving food and drink, welcoming visitors or clearing up afterwards, I think we can all be proud of the way we represented our University.

It really is a team effort and your help and support is appreciated.

If you have any feedback about the Open Day please e-mail the events team.

Many thanks,

Professor Bernie Morley
