On Sunday 23 April 2023 at 3pm there will be a national test of the UK Emergency Alerts service. The alerts, sent through mobile phones, will be used to let you know about emergency situations such as severe flooding; your phone may vibrate, read out the alert, and make a loud sound even if your phone is on silent.
Survivors of domestic abuse may have a second phone hidden from their partner, and need to turn the alerts off to stay safe. Watch the video from Refuge on how to manage the alerts on Android phones and iPhones.
