What's happening

We’re updating the design and functionality of the Service start content type on the website. This will affect pages like the Moodle and car parking system Service starts, which are used to introduce and link to tools outside the website.

We'll release the new Service start design on Tuesday 21 July 2026.

This new design is not part of the Global voice and reputation project or the website review project, but marks the latest phase in our ongoing work to transition page templates into our Lens design system.

Changes to Service starts

  • Consistent design with other Lens design system pages
  • An increased character limit for giving instructions
  • The option of adding two sets of contact details
  • A redesigned call to action button

Further information for Typecase users

If you're a Typecase user, the Digital Content team will email you with more information about the new templates and designs.

In the next couple of months, we will also be releasing an updated Announcement content type. We will share more information with you when it's ready to go live.

We'll update our guidance about creating Service starts so you're prepared to start using the template when it's released.
