A routine upgrade to University Print Services (PaperCut) is scheduled for Tuesday 2 June, from 9am to approximately 1pm.
This work will introduce important security updates and platform improvements, keeping the service reliable and secure.
We expect the upgrade to take about four hours, followed by a period of monitoring to ensure everything runs smoothly again.
What this means for you
During the upgrade, printing, copying and scanning services may be intermittently unavailable.
You should still be able to print for much of the upgrade, but you may experience:
- Brief interruptions when logging into printing devices
- Delays or disruption when releasing print jobs
- Scanning occasionally unavailable
- Print jobs sometimes do not arrive or complete as expected
This isn’t a full outage, but all printing methods will be affected at various points during the work.
Planning ahead
Plan ahead if you know you need printing or scanning service on Tue 2 Jun.
Printing from a USB device at a printer is likely to be the least affected option, although there may still be some disruption.

After the upgrade, if there are any issues using the Print Service, please let us know by raising a ticket on the Self-Service Portal.
