Dear colleague,

Due to essential works on the University’s main water supply, there will be potential disruption to the campus water supply on:

Date: Tuesday 23 June
Time: 2-6pm

These works are to connect an additional water supply to campus. This will increase the resilience of our water supply to the University and help reduce the risk of future outages. All key stakeholders have already been informed and consulted with during the development of proposals for this work, but we need everyone now to be aware.

What to expect

A temporary shutdown of the water supply is planned during this time. All campus may be affected, however most buildings are supplied by water tanks, so many areas may see little or no impact if water is used carefully. The risk of disruption will increase towards the end of the shutdown as the water tanks are depleted.

Areas most likely to be without water:

  1. Arrival Square WCs
  2. Laundry services
  3. South buildings (1S, 2S, 3S, 4S, 4SA and Milner Centre)

How you can help

To minimise any impact, please:

  1. Avoid activities requiring water as a safety measure, especially those involving fire or chemicals
  2. Work remotely if possible
  3. Fill a water bottle in advance for drinking
  4. Use water carefully if you are on site

After the works

Once the water supply is restored, there may be temporary issues such as air locks. These will be resolved as quickly as possible.

If you experience any problems, please report them to the Help Desk.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your support while we carry out these important works.

Many thanks,
