We are pleased to announce that Professor Cassie Wilson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience), has been appointed as a member of the newly established Student Interest Board by the Office for Students (OfS).
The Student Interest Board has been created to ensure that student perspectives are embedded at the heart of the OfS’s work. It brings together students, students’ union officers, university staff, and sector experts to provide advice to the OfS Board, inform policy development, and challenge the regulator to act in students’ best interests.
Professor Wilson brings over 20 years of experience in higher education, with a strong track record of championing student engagement, wellbeing, and success. At the University of Bath, she has led a number of strategic initiatives, including:
- The development of the #NeverOK campaign and Student Safeguarding unit to tackle harassment and discrimination;
- Changes to personal tutoring and move to the Academic Advisor model;
- Our successful application for the University Mental Health Charter Award, and creation of Be Well at Bath, our whole university approach to mental health & wellbeing;
- The creation of the Student Experience Advisory Board, which she chairs.
Speaking about her appointment, Professor Wilson said:
I applied to join the Student Interest Board because I’m passionate about ensuring that student voices shape the future of higher education. I’ve spent my career working to improve the student experience at institutional level, and I’m excited to now contribute to this work on a national scale. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues and students from across the sector to share insights, challenge assumptions, and help ensure that policy decisions are grounded in what truly matters to students.
