The LankellyChase Foundation has announced the appointment of Professor Jane Millar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, as a new trustee to its board.

The appointment was made after an extensive external search and competitive interview process. Professor Millar will join a highly committed and determined board chaired by Dame Suzi Leather.

Our Pro-Vice-Chancellor will play an integral part in the next phase of the Foundation’s long term mission to transform the lives of people who face severe and multiple disadvantages – including homelessness, substance misuse, mental and physical illness, extreme poverty, and violence and abuse.

Professor Millar said: “The work of the LankellyChase Foundation focusses not just on the obvious disadvantages that some people face, but on their capabilities.

“It is important that those who find themselves on the margins of society feel valued as a member of that society - the purpose of the LankellyChase Foundation is to find new ways to do this.

“I look forward to the future challenges my trusteeship brings.”

Professor Millar was one of six trustees appointed with a view to bring significant experience of social research, communications and social enterprise, and investment to the Foundation.

The five other trustees are:

Hilary Berg - An award-winning communications consultant and Chartered Public Relations Practitioner

Paul Cheng - The Founder and Chair of SharedImpact and Chair of the European Social Investment Taskforce

Martin Clarke - The Executive Director at the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) and Chair of the UK Sustainable Finance and Investment Association (UKSIF)

Simon Duffy - The Managing Director of the Ipsos MORI Social Research Institute and Global Director of Ipsos Social Research Institute

Simon Tucker - Chief Executive of the Young Foundation and Chair of the Studio Schools Trust

LankellyChase also appointed Jake Hayman - Founder/CEO of Future First and The Social Investment Consultancy – as an advisor to its Finance and Social Investment Committee.
