In this strategic role, Simon will report to Jon Hunt, Executive Director of Innovation. He will serve as a key University of Bath point of contact for the developing work around the Bath Riverside Innovation Quarter. He will work closely with our network of partners across the city-region, as well as with national and international organisations seeking to collaborate with the University.

Simon brings more than 20 years of senior-level experience at the intersection of academia, industry, and government. He previously served as Innovation Director of the SETsquared Partnership, where he played a pivotal role in transforming the consortium into one of the world’s leading university business incubators.

His career spans leadership roles across sectors including health, digital, social enterprise, quantum technologies, and materials for net zero. Simon has a proven track record in developing large-scale innovation programmes, establishing business networks, and driving impactful collaboration. Most recently, as Director of Bristol Innovations, he led efforts to align government and industry priorities with academic strengths, facilitating major investments and supporting co-location of companies with researchers at the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus.

Simon commented: "I am passionate about the power of innovation districts to deliver benefits for residents, the economy, and to generate high-quality impact. I look forward to working with colleagues and partners to unlock the full potential of Bath Riverside."

Jon Hunt added: "I’m delighted that Simon is joining us to help shape how we co-create transformative, mutualistic partnerships with the city and beyond — accelerating the delivery of meaningful impact."
