The following issues were discussed at the Council meeting.
Human Resources
Council discussed the Annual Report on Human Resources 2016/17, including a workforce report and information on hourly-paid workers, Brexit issues, recruitment, equal pay and staff development.
Equality and Diversity
Council noted the Annual Report of the Equality and Diversity Committee, the Annual Report on Statement of Equality Objectives and the Annual Review of Membership of Council: Age, Gender, Disability and Ethnicity.
Modern Slavery Statement
Council approved the Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement.
Governance
Council received an update on the Council Effectiveness Review of Council.
An invitation to complete a survey had been sent by Halpin Partnership to all staff and students and members of Council, Senate and Court. The scope of the review is available online. Council also noted the positive response of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) to the University’s response to the enquiry into governance relating to remuneration.
