We are writing to you with care and concern, knowing that your home region is currently affected by conflict. We understand this may be a deeply worrying time for you and your loved ones.

Whether you are working on campus or remotely, we wanted to let you know that you are not alone. You are a valued member of our University community and you have the right to feel safe here. We recognise the distress and uncertainty surrounding what lies ahead, and we are seeking to offer you support.

The University offers a range of wellbeing and emotional support and resources which are available through Health Assured, our staff emotional wellbeing service provider, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Our campus and the city of Bath have a strong record on safety, but if you are at all worried about your safety or the safety of others, please remember the Safezone App and the availability and support of our Security Team on or off campus and our Support and Report tool, for raising concerns about inappropriate behaviour.

As an inclusive, international community, we offer support to all staff, regardless of nationality or background. Our support services are available to you now and in the coming weeks and months ahead.

  • If the conflict is having an impact on you or your work, please reach out to your line manager or Head of Department or your HR Advisor who can advise and support you.

  • Our Health Assured service provides professional, free, confidential advice and support by registered counsellors and specialists by phone, video call or online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

  • The Chaplaincy team, who have established an interfaith group, are happy to talk with anyone online who has been affected, in confidence. Please email chaplaincy@bath.ac.uk.

If we can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours,
Professor Marcus Munafò
