We are committed to fostering an environment where all students feel safe and respected. Following Sexual Violence Awareness Week, we are continuing to highlight the importance of consent and sexual misconduct awareness as part of our #NeverOK initiative.

If you have experienced sexual violence, we want you to know that support is available. Regardless of when or where it happened, you are not alone – we are here to help.

How we can support you

We take incidents of sexual violence extremely seriously and offer a range of support options to help you make informed choices about what happens next. You do not need to report an incident to the University or the police to access support, and you will never be pressured to take any course of action.

University Support Services:

  • our Student Support service offers confidential advice and emotional support, helping you decide what’s right for you. You won’t need to provide details of what happened. You can access support by submitting a request support form
  • Students' Union support: The SU Advice and Support Team provide independent advice and support to anyone wishing to make a report or involved in a University Dignity and Respect process. You can contact them in confidence by emailing suadvice@bath.ac.uk. An Advisor will usually respond the same working day

Specialist Support:

  • if the incident occurred within the last eight days, we strongly recommend seeking support from a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). SARCs offer time-sensitive advice, forensic sample collection (if you choose), and emotional support. They are open 24/7 and free to access
  • the nearest SARC to Bath is The Bridge. If getting there is a barrier, Student Support can discuss options with you.

Reporting to the University

If you would like to discuss reporting an incident, our Support & Report Service provides guidance on the process, your rights, and what to expect. You can speak with them informally before deciding whether to proceed with a report.

To learn more or to submit a report, visit Support and Report. Student Support can also help connect you with this team.

Awareness of external campaigns

We are aware of the Enough to End Rape campaign, which is reaching out to universities, including Bath. Please note that the University and The SU have no formal affiliation with this campaign. However, we work closely with trusted partners to ensure you receive accurate, up-to-date support and guidance.

Recent updates include information on DNA self-swab kits and additional support pathways. We encourage you to read the latest guidance from NHS England South West with joint advice on getting help after rape and sexual assault and the use of self-swab kits.

You are not alone

Whatever has happened, support is available. You are in control of your next steps, and we are here to help in whatever way feels right for you.
