The new award, launched by the Higher Education Academy and Times Higher Education, received entries from universities from Australasia, North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Entries were assessed against three main areas: excellence in the leadership of teaching and learning; excellence in teaching; and excellence in student support.

Professor Andrew Heath, Academic Director of Centre for Learning and Teaching, said: “Being selected as a finalist in the Global Teaching Excellence Awards is testament to the effort and dedication of our teaching staff, support staff and students.

“This accolade demonstrates that we are fulfilling our ambition to be recognised as an international centre of research and teaching excellence.”
