Cosy Wednesdays, a joint University and SU scheme for older residents in the Bath community, is looking for staff volunteers. The initiative, taking place every Wednesday afternoon from 12.30-4.30pm, is offering guests free soup, refreshments, and optional activities in a warm space, at the University’s building in Dartmouth Avenue in Oldfield Park.

The team organising Cosy Wednesdays is seeking staff volunteers to join student volunteers and help support the scheme over the coming weeks. The scheme runs until 8 February 2023.

Typical activities for volunteers may include:

  • Greeting and chatting to guests
  • Providing refreshments
  • Playing board games with guests
  • Helping to facilitate activities such as craft sessions, alongside SU groups and other volunteers

Together, the SU and University are keen to help those local residents who may need a warm space over the coming months. Staff interested in supporting the sessions can email cosy@bath.ac.uk with details about their preferred choice of dates. Colleagues must get permission from their line manager/Head of Department if they want to volunteer during their working hours.

Cosy Wednesdays are held in The Cabin, a space we lease in Dartmouth Avenue (Find it on Google Maps). The site has free parking and is a four-minute walk from the Bridge Road Bus stop and an eight-minute walk from the Oldfield Park train station. The number 1 Bath City Bus stops at the Bridge Road stop.
