With much of our Sports facilities re-opening, we’re writing to share an update on The Edge.

As many will know The Edge is the University of Bath’s arts and creativity centre. It provides a hub on campus for opportunities to participate in art and creative practice using top-class facilities.

Presently our plan is to re-open the centre for the start of the Autumn semester. Prior to this, we will be working hard to introduce changes to how the centre is administered and require some time to prepare appropriately for this.

These changes include greater presence of The Students’ Union overseeing arts activities, and a re-freshed programme of wellbeing classes in the Dance Studio. Our aim is for the SU to administer access for student groups on the 2nd floor, and identify when it might be possible to use the theatre spaces again for student group performances.

How students will book rooms on the 2nd floor of for individual use will be announced in the coming weeks, and we will make further announcements in September about this.

We know many students will want to get back to using The Edge as soon as possible and understand that well-being is linked to the joy of being able to maintain arts practice, but ask for understanding at this time, as we work to ensure The Edge is safely prepared to be open and ready to be accessed smoothly and efficiently for Semester 1.

Please look out for further announcements about this in September.
