Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Bath, Professor Phil Taylor, this week attended the Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN) General Assembly hosted at the University of South-Eastern Norway, Bath’s first official engagement with the network.

Becoming the fourth UK member to join the European network allows Bath to continue to strengthen the University’s European engagement, research and education partnerships.

Professor Phil Taylor said: “Formally joining YERUN reinforces the University of Bath’s commitment to international collaboration. We are delighted to be welcomed into a European network that mirrors our ambitions for international impact, innovation, and partnership, and it was fantastic to meet colleagues from other member institutions and start exploring how we can work together.”

YERUN connects 24 young, dynamic, research-focused universities across Europe and supports them to build cooperative relationships that foster innovation, knowledge exchange and research.

Dag Rune Olsen, YERUN President and Rector of UiT The Arctic University of Norway, said: “It was a great pleasure to welcome the University of Bath to its first YERUN General Assembly as our newest member.

"By joining the network, the University of Bath strengthens YERUN’s presence in the United Kingdom while bringing valuable interdisciplinary expertise and a shared commitment to research excellence, innovation, and societal impact, further enriching our community with fresh perspectives and reinforcing the collaborative spirit at the heart of our mission."

As a member of YERUN, the University of Bath will work with partner institutions on joint collaborative projects, expand existing links with industry, increase staff and student mobility, and engage with EU policy discussions around research, innovation, and education.
