Summer research project
On all our master’s courses in the Data Science suite, you'll complete a summer research project in your chosen field, from forecasting energy demand with machine learning to deep learning in high-frequency trading, giving you hands-on experience that stands out for jobs or a PhD.

All of our master’s courses in the Data Science suite offer an optional industry placement: a year of full-time, paid work matched to your career ambitions. Bath has 60 years of placement experience. Throughout your placement you will receive dedicated support from our specialist placements team.
Our employer relationships range from household names to fast-growing start ups. Recent placement employers include Unilever, Eli Lilly, Nomura, Wessex Water, Johnson Matthey, Malvern Panalytical and Seebyte, across industries including healthcare, technology, finance, engineering and water.

We are offering up to 250 Bath Global Excellence Scholarships worth £10,000 to high-achieving international students joining a full-time taught master’s course in September 2027.
For home students, up to 30 Diamond Scholarships worth £3,000 will be awarded for academic excellence.
If you are a new fee-paying student, and have an offer to study a postgraduate taught degree at the University of Bath, you are eligible to apply.
