University of Bath International Foundation Year
This one-year programme is for international students with high academic potential and motivation to allow direct entry on to one of the University's degrees.
For over 20 years, the Learning Partnerships Office (LPO) has managed the University of Bath International Foundation Year (IFY).
The LPO manages the student journey from enquiries, arrival and induction, through to programme management, academic administration, quality assurance and finally progression to University of Bath undergraduate degrees.
The IFY, delivered by the University’s long-standing partner, Bath College, attracts students from a wide range of countries, which adds to the international diversity of the University.
The IFY caters for international students with high academic potential and superb motivation, but not the precise qualifications, to allow direct entry on to one of the University's degree courses. With progression from the IFY to the University being consistently over 80%, the IFY has been successful in producing high-calibre, academically prepared Bath undergraduates.
In 2020, of the former IFY students who graduated from the University, 76% achieved either a 1st or Upper Second Class degree. In 2019, 84% of former IFY students achieved a 1st or Upper Second. Former IFY students have progressed not only to UG but also to PG and PhD studies at the University.
