Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  • Establish a thorough understanding of the foundational and contemporary issues relating to logistics and supply chain management
  • Explore the frameworks and methodologies that link theory and practice in logistics and supply chain management
  • Apply models, tools and techniques that are relevant to supply chain and logistics management
  • Identify and recognise ethical and corporate social responsibility issues in relation to logistics and supply chain management
  • Develop critical and analytical thinking around complex logistics and supply chain management challenges



Synopsis: Learn the key issues relevant to supply chain management like strategic sourcing and supplier relationships. You will also explore warehousing and transportation, and ways to solve issues in them, and learn contemporary topics like technology, sustainability and e-commerce. You will make use of theory and literature alongside practical industry case studies and simulations.

Content: Topics across the spectrum of modern logistics and supply chain management will be covered in this unit. Some examples include:
  • Supplier selection and relationship management
  • Structure and dynamics
  • Make-or-buy
  • Risk management
  • Warehouse and transportation management
  • Logistics and distribution management
  • Contemporary topics such as sustainability and emerging technologies
