  • Critically reflect on the conduct of the consultant and consulting as a profession.



Synopsis: Examine the theoretical and practical aspects of contemporary consulting. You'll learn about: - concepts, tools and techniques for diagnosing and solving complex problems - the context in which the consulting process unfolds - the consulting life cycle - strategies for managing client-consultant relationships - the framework for optimising intellectual capital in professional service firms.

Content: Key topics covered include:
  • Context and background, such as origins, growth and importance, types of consulting firms and their operating mode.
  • Core elements of management consulting, e.g., forms of capital (human, social and organisational), and approaches, methods and tools.
  • Dynamics of clients and client-consultant relations.
  • Consulting life cycle and the client engagement process.
  • Ethics of consulting.
  • Case study analysis.
  • Preparation of a client proposal.
