  • Develop an understanding of why and how national cultures/institutions influence work and management issues in global corporations.
  • Develop an understanding of the challenges of managing work and management issues across national boundaries and how global companies can effectively manage these issues, taking into consideration influencing factors at various levels of analysis.
  • Appreciate current trends and developments driving international work and management issues in global corporations.
  • Develop research skills, critical analysis skills and the ability to develop appropriate recommendations, notably through the case study method and the application of frameworks in the domains of international management and international HRM.
  • Work collaboratively in teams and develop cross-cultural management skills.



Synopsis: Develop effective people, cultural and work strategies for managing human resources in an international context. You'll learn to recognise the significance and complexities of people management in a changing world of work. Focusing on global organisations, You will examine the implications of cultural and institutional differences on a range of areas like: - multinational corporations - transnational knowledge transfer - working in the digital space

Content: The unit will explore how national culture and institutions influence work and management issues in global corporations. It will examine the challenges of managing work and management issues in multinational corporations, taking into account several levels of analysis. Topics include: management of knowledge across borders, diversity management, corporate social responsibility across borders, international human resource management strategies, the impact of digitalisation on aspects of cross-border work and management.
