An all-round sportswoman, Dora Mathison attended Anstey Physical Training College in Birmingham. After playing hockey at county and territorial level she was selected to represent her country as part of the All England Women’s Hockey Association national team touring South Africa in 1930.

The collection comprises photographs and associated material relating mainly to international hockey in the 1930s.

The collection was donated to the University of Bath by Dora Mathison's daughter in 2021.
