A collection of books and journals assembled by John Hussey OBE, author and historical consultant, during the course of his research into World War I.

John Hussey served for 30 years with British Petroleum (BP) in the UK, Europe and Africa. Since 1989 he has written extensively on military history and he was the Douglas Haig Fellowship’s second annual Haig Fellow (1996-1997). From 2003 to 2007, he served as the British representative on the Belgian official committee for restoring the Waterloo battlefield. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Fellow of the International Napoleonic Society.

The collection, donated to the University of Bath in 2013, comprises books and journals mainly relating to the First World War with a particular focus on military and naval operations. It also includes a small amount of archival material - notes, correspondence, newspaper cuttings and memorabilia associated with Mr Hussey's research found inside some of the books.
