The collection consists of the archives of the UK national governing body for modern pentathlon, Pentathlon GB (formerly the Modern Pentathlon Association of Great Britain), and associated material. It comprises correspondence, committee minutes, regulations, press material, photographs, newsletters, national and international event programmes and results data.

Modern pentathlon, which combines the disciplines of swimming, fencing, horse riding, shooting and running, has its origins in the armed forces and this military aspect of the sport is well represented in the collection. The collection was deposited with the University of Bath by Pentathlon GB in 2009 with the assistance of Mr Andy Archibald a member of Great Britain’s 1976 Olympic gold medal team.
