Accommodation site plan
Overview of the completed accommodation site plan
A proposed site plan for the R7 student accommodation on the University campus. The plan shows the layout of:
- multiple residential blocks
- surrounding sports facilities
- site entrances for vehicles and pedestrians
- landscaped areas within the campus boundary
- the University’s East Car Park
The plan is oriented with north at the top.
Residential accommodation area
The accommodation consists of eight blocks:
- six single blocks arranged in a row
- two multi-part blocks, one located at each end of the row
Building storeys
Block 1 is made up of:
- two four-storey blocks
- a one-storey block
- a five-storey block
Blocks 2 to 7 are four storeys high
Block 8 is made up of:
- a four-storey block
- a five-storey block
Layout
- Accommodation Blocks 2 to 7 are arranged in a row running northwest to southeast. Blocks 1 and 8 are to the west of the row at the northern and southern ends, respectively
- With the exceptions of the multi-part Blocks 1 and 8, accommodation blocks are separated by paths, trees, and open spaces
- Ground levels vary across the site, from 180.41m above sea level towards its northeast edge to 171.4m towards its southeast edge, so buildings sit at different elevations
Site entrances
- There are two designated pedestrian entrances to the north of the site, and one to the south of the site
- There is a vehicle access point to the north of the site
Surrounding features
- The East Car Park is to the north of the accommodation site
- Bushey Norwood Country Park is to the east of the site
- The University sports facilities are to the west and south of the site

- The site boundary is marked with a red line
- The wider University of Bath campus boundary is marked with a blue line

- No topographic detail or building footprints are emphasised; the focus is on the location and context of the new accommodation site

Construction site logistics plan
Overview of construction site logistics plan
The plan depicts the eight accommodation blocks and service buildings within the defined site boundary. The site is fed by clearly marked routes for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, plus annotations conveying key logistical features of the construction site.
The plan is oriented with northeast at the top, southwest at the bottom, south-southeast to the right and north-northwest to the left.
Overall layout
The development is arranged across the site with eight main accommodation blocks (Block 1 to Block 8):
- Blocks 2 to 7 are grouped centre-top of the plan in a horizontal row
- Block 1 is located centre-left of the plan
- Block 8 is located lower-right of the plan
Internal roads loop through the site, connecting all the blocks and linking to an external vehicular access point on the northern boundary of the site.
Access and movement routes
Four types of routes are shown using colour‑coded arrows. These are the:
- contractor vehicle route (yellow) shows access to the site via the University’s East Car Park service road (running along the left edge of the plan) leading to and from the contractor delivery entrance at the upper left edge of the construction plan
- contractor pedestrian route (red), which shows access through the contractor pedestrian entrance next to the contractor delivery entrance
- public vehicle route (blue), which shows that public vehicles will share the East Car Park service roads with contractor delivery vehicles
- public pedestrian routes (pink), which show public paths that will remain open outside the construction site, including the bridleway on the eastern edge of the campus and the paths around the sports facilities
Operational and service areas
- There’s a contractor car park in the northeast corner of the construction site, next to the contractor delivery entrance and the contractor pedestrian entrance
- Recycling areas, cement silos, container storage, and topsoil storage are along the eastern, southern, and western edges of the construction site
- There are turning circles for large vehicles towards the southern and eastern edges of the site
Environmental and safety features
- Areas of retained trees are marked along the site edges
- Root-protection fencing is indicated around a section of retained trees between Block 8 (south-eastern corner of the site) and alongside Blocks 2 to 7
- A 2.4-metre-high hoarding encloses the site perimeter, with bulkhead lighting where required
Additional logistical considerations
Five crane operation zones are indicated with:
- tower locations adjacent to Block 1 (TC1) and Block 8 (TC5), and between Blocks 2 and 3 (TC2), 4 and 5 (TC3), and 6 and 7 (TC4)
- operating circles (blue dash lines)
- a note restricting the movement of the crane by Block 8 (TC5) to avoid oversailing public areas

The plan is oriented with north at the top.
Site boundary and hoarding
- The perimeter of the overall site is marked by a red line boundary
- A proposed main contractor hoarding line (blue) runs around the site, forming a secure enclosure that either sits on the site perimeter or within it
- At the northern corners and parts of the southern edge of the site, sections of blue dash lines show where the proposed hoarding will be made from prefabricated steel panels supported on frames or concrete blocks to avoid disturbing nearby trees
- There are four sections of retained trees within the site boundary, indicated by green dash lines, indicating temporary tree protective fencing. Two of these sections create a green space between construction areas in the southwest of the site, two are near the northeast corner of the site
Access points
- A main site entrance is clearly indicated along the site boundary at the north of the site
- Near the entrance is a turnstile access point for controlled pedestrian entry
Internal layout
- Inside the hoarding, near the entrance, is the site compound, containing:
- three-storey site welfare and office buildings
- contractor parking spaces
- To the south of the site compound is the largest area, labelled ‘construction area’
