A highly relevant area of study which looks to address global issues such as food security, human health and environmental sustainability.

Biosciences integrates knowledge and understanding of life over a range of scales, from ecosystems and populations to their molecular components. It's an exciting area of study, rapidly evolving with advances in biological technologies, tools and approaches, paving the way to tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges.

All of our courses are accredited by the Royal Society of Biology and will give you the knowledge and skills to be part of the next generation of scientists, helping make you highly sought after by employers. We're ranked Top 10 for graduate prospects for biological sciences in the Complete University Guide 2021.

We offer three biosciences courses:

  • Biology which encompasses the study of life on all scales. It's a wide ranging and highly flexible course enabling you to work out where your interests lie.
  • Biochemistry which focuses on the study of biological systems at a cellular and biochemical level.
  • Biomedical sciences which applies biological science to explore human health and the causes, prevention and treatment of disease.

On all our courses you'll have the option to take advantage of our excellent links with industry and research institutions by applyng to go on a placement in the UK or abroad, to gain experience and try out a possible career path.
