Social work

Undergraduate courses starting in 2025

Social workers improve lives. They support, empower and protect vulnerable people, and promote their human rights.

Our course is approved by the professional regulator, Social Work England (SWE). It teaches you how to help a wide range of people in diverse and complex situations, and will develop your professional capabilities in respect of social work knowledge, values, and skills.

Through teaching and your professional practice placement, you’ll develop abilities and experience in assessing needs, responding to crises, and advocating on behalf of individuals or communities.

Professionally qualified social workers work in a range of health and social care settings, including the NHS, social services, and private and voluntary social care providers.

‘One of the best things about Bath was the quality of the lecturers. They're still actively producing research; some are still actively working in social work.’
