Louis Bollard (BSc Business Administration, 2017)
Director and Partner at Vine Foods
Louis’ role as a Director and Partner in Vive Foods involves the running and management of a small start-up businesses in the food industry. He is involved across all areas of the business, including: production, branding, operations, people management, product development and marketing. Prior to joining Vive, he graduated from the University’s BBA course and came straight into the business after graduation having previously completed an entrepreneurial course at the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy. Happy to advise on working in the food industry or for a food brand as well as being involved across a number of different business aspects.
Ashley Crofton (BA MLES French ab initio Italian, 2013)
Business Manager at YSC
Ashley is working at YSC (leadership consultancy) as a business manager which involves a mixture of client and project management. She has had the opportunity to work with consultancies, tech start-ups, finance companies, law firms, media and advertising companies. Prior to joining YSC she worked for three years at Angela Mortimer PLC as a Recruitment Consultant and Team Leader. She has also worked as an English Teacher in Reunion Island (French overseas department) via the British Council. Happy to advice on an insight into careers in recruitment/consultancy as well as how to progress up the career ladder within an organisation.
James Elgeti (BSc Business Administration, 2011)
Project Finance Associate, Société Générale
James joined the Energy Advisory & Project Finance team at Societe Generale and has been an integral part of the deal teams to advise clients in offshore wind, LNG, and gas networks, raising over $3bn in the past year. James also engages in lending mandates on power transactions across the EMEA region, with a keen interest in renewable technology. Prior to joining SG, James gained broad experience across the project finance market while at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank and Royal Bank of Scotland. During this time, James worked on multiple mandates across renewable and conventional power in the EMEA region. Happy to advise on how gaining the CFA qualification has helped and also how to move within a company to a different area.
Geoff Kates (BSc Electrical & Electronic Engineering, 1978)

Geoff currently runs 4 companies in the areas of Research, Consulting, Recruitment and Events. Geoff specialises in advanced technology and financial regulation. Earlier on in his career he was a Futures Trader and started off in Silicon Valley in Chip Design and Software. Happy to advise on an insight into careers in banking, consulting, financial software and Fintech, as well as how to start your own company.
Caleb Murray (MEng Chemical Engineering, 2016)
Business Development Manager, Process Systems Enterprise (PSE)
Caleb’s role involves the management of sales and relationships the company has with it’s corporate customers. This includes identifying new opportunities, travelling to meet with prospects & customers and generating sales to develop new business. Recent activities have included a week in India to attend a conference and to meet with customers throughout the country. Prior to joining PSE, Caleb graduated in 2016 with a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering where he then completed the 2016 Mongol Rally, driving over 18,000 miles from the UK to Mongolia and back again through 25 countries. Happy to advise on how/why to pursue a career in sales, in addition to general networking skills.
Robert F Smyth (MBA Executive Business Administration, 1994)
Chief Financial Officer and joint founder of The Enersel Engine Company Limited
Rob is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and joint founder of a start-up business which owns the Intellectual Property (IP) for engine technology to generate off-grid electricity using fuels from waste products and renewable sources. Rob has also trained as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young (EY) in London. Later in his career, he was sponsored to study for a MBA at the School of Management, University of Bath. Happy to advise on careers in Finance in a wide variety of business sectors as well as the importance of ‘being yourself’.
Chantal Thompson (BSc Sociology, 2016)
Enabling Functions Graduate at Phillips
Chantal’s role as an Enabling Functions graduate involves work within HR as well as Continuous Improvement. This role sits directly beneath the UKI Directors for HR, IT and Business Transformation for Philips Health-Tech. Prior to joining Philips, she worked for John Lewis Partnership as a Junior Recruitment Resourcer, and Care UK as their Lead Resourcer. Currently she is completing qualifications alongside current roles, including Level 3 CIPD as well as Lean leadership. Chantal has taken the opportunity to work on her own development; attending courses for change/project management, Personal Impact, stakeholder management and Insights (personality type) discovery. Happy to advise on the introduction into HR and continuous improvement as well as comfort, stress and strain zones: knowing when you are taking on too much.
