How to give a good presentation (March)

This workshop attempts to equip participants with tools to help enhance their presentational style so they can deliver their message with greater impact

  • 27 Mar 2019, 10.00am to 27 Mar 2019, 1.00pm GMT
  • Room to be confirmed, University of Bath
  • This event is free

About the workshop

One of the most common problems that presenters want to solve is how to feel more confident while speaking in public. Confidence would appear to be the holy grail for presenters: when describing confidence, people almost invariably wish to feel on the inside the way another person looks on the outside, and understanding this confusion is central to solving the problem. This highly interactive workshop attempts to equip participants with practical tools to help enhance their presentational style so that they can deliver their message with greater effect and impact. This session will not address specific issues relating to the content of academic presentations.

Learning Outcomes

The session aims to help participants to understand:

  • what is confidence, where does it come from and how can I make it?
  • what do I need to do (or not do) in order to have a greater impact as a presenter?
  • what processes can help me control the way in which I deliver my message?
  • do I know my strengths and weaknesses in how I come across?

Booking a place

If you book a place you are required to attend the whole of the session. If you are unable to commit to this, please cancel your place in plenty of time and let another student attend. Please arrive promptly to the session and remember to sign the attendance sheet.
