About the workshop

This half-day workshop is aimed at early career researchers, across any discipline, looking to:

  • explore ways to embed stakeholder engagement and impact in their research process
  • gain practical tips on how to begin engaging effectively with non-academic audiences

The session will cover:

  • understanding research impact
  • identifying potential impact of your own research
  • planning for impact
  • writing effective research briefings
  • practical tips for successful external engagement

Learning outcomes

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • demonstrate a strong understanding of what impact means in the context of their research and the wider funding environment
  • be able to define their research impact objectives and begin identifying their key external stakeholders
  • have the skills to begin drafting their own stakeholder engagement plan to achieve impact
  • have identified a set of external engagement ‘actions’ relating to their own research that they can implement following the workshop
