About the workshop

NVivo is a qualitative data analysis software package which enables the researcher to manage and better analyse research data, such as open-ended questions in questionnaires or interview and focus group transcripts. NVivo can also help with other multimedia data such as audio or video recordings.

This workshop provides a step-by-step introduction to using NVivo 11 to support qualitative analysis. A range of the software's tools will be demonstrated using real-life research projects and participants will have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the following functions of the software:

  • setting up a new project
  • creating or importing sources
  • organising data
  • coding in different ways
  • working with cases and attributes
  • running queries
  • using visualisation tools

The software used will be NVivo 11 for Windows: Mac users may attend but should be aware that NVivo for Mac has some limitations.
