You’ll join small conversation groups led by volunteers who are fluent or native speakers. Each group is arranged by language and, where possible, by level. Join us as beginners, intermediate or advanced language learners, around the topic of "Media and communications".
What happens at a Café
You’re encouraged to take part, but there’s no pressure to speak straight away. Feel free to listen in and join when you’re ready. Free tea, coffee and snacks will be available – just remember to bring your own cup. Booking is required, and you will be asked to indicate the language you wish to practise and your level of proficiency when you book.
Who can take part
The Language Café is open to all students, staff and alumni. It’s a great way to meet new people, explore different cultures and build confidence in using another language.
My Employability Profile
Language learning cultivates a wide range of transferable employability skills that can significantly enhance your placement prospects and future career. If you join us at a Café, you can now add it as an experience in My Employability Profile and record your progress against both the Communication and Social and Cultural Awareness capabilities.
