About the workshop

This workshop will provide an overview of the bibliographic databases most useful for finding journal articles and information to support mathematical sciences research. We will look at both general and specialist databases provided by the library, including MathSciNet ACM digital library, IEEE Xplore, Scopus and Web of Science. This will be an interactive session with time for you to use the databases.

Learning outcomes

After attending this workshop, you will:

  • be able to make an informed choice about which database to use
  • be aware of the main characteristics and functions of the databases demonstrated
  • be able to reflect on the success of search activities and consider ways to improve them
  • have set up alerting features and/or a personal account for a relevant database
