The Research Excellence Framework assessment process (REF) is the UK’s system for evaluating the quality of our excellent research and its impact in UK higher education institutions.
This session will introduce you to the next REF (REF2029), outlining the purpose of the assessment, why it’s important to you and the University, how and what is evaluated and the key timescales. We will also provide you with information about our internal preparations, the support and resources available and how to get involved.
The session will be a short presentation followed by a Q&A. Please do let us know what questions you have when you sign up and we will address as many of these as we can during the presentation.
Staff and postgraduate students from all disciplines, particularly those in Science and Engineering, are encouraged to attend. This event is hybrid, lunch will be provided for those attending in person.
Session leads

Lunch with Impact workshops
This workshop is part of a series supported by the University’s ESRC and EPSRC Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAAs) along with the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF), to support researchers in identifying, generating, evidencing and achieving impact from their research. Sessions are designed to enable attendees to apply the information, knowledge and tools to their own research.
