If you need to, you can use MyTimetable to view your course or unit timetable and export your timetable to your calendar on different devices.

Accessing MyTimetable

MyTimetable can be accessed on your desktop computer through the MyTimetable web page.

This service can also be accessed on your mobile device.

To log in, enter your University username and password and click the ‘Login’ button.

Using MyTimetable

When you log in to MyTimetable your personal timetable will show as default once it is available.

If you wish to add individual units or a different programme of study please see the sections below on customising MyTimetable.

Customising MyTimetable

Adding units and programmes of study

You can add individual units, one at a time, or add a Programme of study to your MyTimetable view.

  • To add individual units: select ‘Unit’ from the drop-down menu. A new window will appear.
  • Next, type in your unit code in ‘Search for a unit’ box. You can find out the code for your units from your Programme Catalogue or your Academic Department. You can also filter your search on department and on programme of study.
  • Check the box next to the timetables you would like to add and press ‘Add timetables’.

  • To add your Programme of study: click on ‘Add timetable’ button to the right and select ‘Programme of study’ from the drop-down menu. A new window will appear.

  • Enter your Programme of study in ‘Search for a programme of study’ box. You can search for your Programme of study by your programme’s 10 digit code or the name of the programme. You can also filter your search by department.

  • Check the box next to the timetables you would like to add and press ‘Add timetables’.

Customising a programme timetable

Your course may have optional units and multiple groups receiving lectures and tutorials at the same time. You can customize a Programme timetable and deselect optional units and unit activities, such as seminar groups, not relevant to you.

A warning triangle icon indicates an additional activity. These are usually skills sessions or placement sessions that your Department would like you to attend.

  • To deselect optional units you have not signed up for or been allocated to, uncheck the irrelevant units in the menu to the right.
  • To deselect unit activities irrelevant to you, press the arrow button to the right of the unit code and name. A new box will appear. Click on ‘Filter activities’. You can now select the unit activities that are only relevant to you.

Check with your Academic Department first, as to which group you have been allocated to. A unit that has been filtered will show in italics in your list.

Deleting a timetable

In the menu to the right, press the arrow button next to the timetable you want to delete and select ‘Remove’.

Some timetables might not be removable. Also, units that are part of a timetable cannot be removed, just deselected.

The desktop site

The home screen of the desktop site is called the Calendar View. The timetable will be regularly updated when tutorials or lectures are moved.

  • You can view your timetable on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. You can also view everything as a list. The view can be switched by picking the correct tab.
  • You can return to the current date by pressing ‘Today’.
  • You can export your timetable to your calendar as a subscription or download to PDF file.
  • At the bottom right-hand side, a calendar is available which you can use to select the date you want to view.
  • Click on an activity to view it in more detail (i.e. unit code, location, staff member and week pattern).

MyTimetable mobile site

MyTimetable mobile is optimised for use on mobile phones.

Access the Main Menu to connect your timetable to your mobile device calendar, to visit the desktop site and to logout.

Exporting timetables to smartphones

MyTimetable has various options for exporting timetables ranging from real time syncing with smartphones, Microsoft Outlook, Apple Calendar or Google Calendar to printable PDF files.

  • To synchronise your timetable, click on the ‘Connect calendar’ button to the right.
  • Select the desired option and follow the instructions that appear in a new window.

There may be a delay in changes showing in your calendar.

Android Smartphone

Android does not provide any support for adding online calendar subscriptions directly. You can, however, link MyTimetable to Google Calendar. If you don't have a Google account yet, you can create one via Google's Create your Google Account web page. Follow the steps below (in the 'Google Calendar' section) to connect your timetable to Google Calendar. You can then use your Google Calendar on your Android smartphone when connected to your Google account.

With Google Calendar, there can be several hours between updates of your timetable.

iPhone/iPad

It is easy to add an online calendar subscription using an iPhone or iPad. In Safari, go to Mytimetable mobile, login, click the menu button and select 'Connect Calendar'.

  • The iPhone will now request confirmation.
  • Click ‘Subscribe’ to subscribe to your customized timetable.
  • Confirm subscription to your timetable.
  • Your timetable has been added.

Blackberry

Unfortunately, it's not possible to link MyTimetable to your Blackberry smartphone. Blackberry smartphones do support synchronising with Google Calendar, although subscribed calendars can't be synchronised. Google's proprietary solution 'Google Sync for BlackBerry' has been discontinued. You can use MyTimetable mobile to view your up-to-date timetable.

Other Smartphones

Consult your smartphone's manual for device-specific instructions for adding calendar subscriptions. The URL of the calendar can be found by clicking 'Connect Calendar' and then selecting 'Other'.
