Telethon 2024

Find out more about becoming a student fundraiser.

Recruitment for the Autumn Telethon 2024 is coming soon!

If you like a good chat, are excellent on the phone and want to gain some valuable experience raising money for a great cause, this could be the perfect job for you.

Working from home over a four-week period, you’ll be calling Bath graduates (alumni) to talk about the valuable and innovative work alumni donations support.

Email John Richardson at jdr55@bath.ac.uk to register your interest and be among the first to hear when applications open in late July/early August.

What is the Telethon?

The Telethon is the Advancement Office’s biggest fundraising event of the year.

Working from home, our student call team speak to thousands of alumni, raising vital funds for scholarships, SU clubs and societies, innovative research and more. The campaign isn’t just about raising much needed funds, you’ll be reconnecting many alumni with the University, finding out more about them and their interests, and gaining some valuable insight into life after graduation.

Key dates and information

  • Applications open: end of July/early August (register now to receive an email notification)
  • Selection sessions: Sept (day/times tbc)
  • Training weekend: 19–20 October
  • Calling dates: Monday 21 October–Sunday 17 November

Who can apply?

  • Students eligible to work in the UK and able to provide UK/Irish passport in person or complete a Home Office Right to Work Check via Teams
  • Students able to commit to at least three shifts each week, including one at the weekend, and attend both training days

What will I have to do?

Calling from your home, using specialist software on your smartphone, you’ll speak to alumni over a period of four weeks between Monday 21 October and Sunday 17 November 2024.

You’ll earn great money while getting excellent work experience and having the chance to have many rewarding conversations with fellow members of the University community. This was a recent (and typical) comment we received from an alum who received a call.

"I very much enjoyed speaking with you. I was very impressed by your manner/approach/fluency and confidence on the call. In fact all the Bath students/grads I have spoken to in the past have been excellent and like you, and very enthusiastic about their time studying at Bath. Let me wish you every success in your future in general and, of course, any summer exams looming. Whatever path you take, I'm sure you will make a success of it! Good luck. Kind Regards, Mark"
