Funding for cancer-related research

Thanks to donations we are able to offer limited funding for cancer-related research. Find about what funding is available and how to apply.

Posters and travel grants

Grants of up to £200 are available towards the costs of attending an academic meeting or making a short visit to another institution.

Applications for these awards should be submitted for consideration by the CR@B steering committee using the CR@B travel and poster grant application form.

Criteria

  • Applicants can only make one application per year
  • Applicants must demonstrate active participation in their visit or meeting e.g. poster/presentation/abstract
  • Successful applicants are expected to provide a short 300 word (max) report of their visit including a picture which acknowledges the support of CR@B on any presentation/poster. The picture may be shared on the CR@B twitter account, homepage or similar media
  • Posters will be presented at subsequent CR@B events
  • Postdoctoral researchers/students must obtain their supervisor's signature before submitting their application

Cancer research seed-corn funds

Seed-corn grants are available for £1000 each to support a cancer research project.

Applications can be made by either the student or supervisor.

Criteria

  • Applicants can only make one application per year.
  • Applicants must be a current PhD student, Postdoctoral researcher, PI member of at the University of Bath or the Royal United Hospital
  • The funds should stimulate cancer research activities within the CR@B network, particularly collaborations between the University and the RUH Bath
  • Eligible costs: Consumables, small equipment, University facility costs
  • Funding cannot be used for salaries, stipends, bench fees or living costs
  • Postdoctoral researchers/students must obtain their supervisor's signature before submitting their application
  • The project must be complete, and award spent within 1 year
  • Successful applicants will be expected to provide a short one-page report detailing the outputs/outcomes of their award and any follow on. This will be required within 3 months of the project finishing. It will be used to report back to our sponsors and should be written so as to be suitable for a lay audience. Reports can include images, which together may be made available on the website
  • Successful applicants must credit 'Cancer Research at Bath, CR@B' in any poster, publication or other output arising from the funded project
  • Successful applicants are expected to present their research at subsequent CR@B events.
