Graduation day timetable

Find out where you need to be and when on the day of your ceremony.

There are up to three ceremonies a day at 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm.

Timings for the 10am ceremony

From 8am

  • Collect your gown and have your official photographs taken
  • Gown collection opens for graduates to collect your pre-ordered gown in The Guildhall. You can order your gown and photography in advance from Graduation Attire
  • Guests do not need to accompany their graduate to collect their gown but can take part in photographs

9am

  • Doors to Bath Abbey open
  • Ushers at the door will ask guests to show the ticket email sent out in advance
  • Graduates must check-in with staff at the registration desk on entry at the back of the Abbey before entering

9.30am

  • All graduates and guests should be seated
  • Graduates must check-in at the registration desk before 9.45am to make sure their name is read out in the ceremony

9.45am

  • Listen to the briefing by the Head Usher 15 minutes before your ceremony begins
  • The briefing will detail the procedure for crossing the stage and give guidance to guests on clapping and photography

10am

  • Ceremony starts
  • Latecomers will not be admitted so please make sure you arrive in plenty of time

11am approx

  • Ceremony finishes

6.30pm (4pm on Thursday 22 January)

  • Photography studios close

7pm (4.30pm on Thursday 22 January)

  • Gown return deadline
  • Please make sure you return your gown to avoid an additional charge

Timings for the 12.30pm ceremony

From 8am

6.30pm (4pm on Thursday 22 January)

  • Photography studios close

7pm (4.30pm on Thursday 22 January)

  • Gown return deadline
  • Please make sure you return your gown to avoid an additional charge

Timings for the 3pm ceremony

From 12.30pm

  • Collect your gown and have your official photographs taken
  • Gown collection opens for graduates to collect your pre-ordered gown in The Guildhall at 8am, but priority will be given to those attending the earlier ceremonies until 12.30pm. You can order your gown and photography in advance from Graduation Attire
  • Guests do not need to accompany their graduate to collect their gown but can take part in photographs

2pm

  • Doors to Bath Abbey open
  • Ushers at the door will ask guests to show the ticket email sent out in advance
  • Graduates must check-in with staff at the registration desk at the back of Bath Abbey before entering

2.30pm

  • All graduates and guests should be seated
  • Graduates must check-in at the registration desk before 2.45pm to make sure their name is read out in the ceremony

2.45pm

  • Listen to the briefing by the Head Usher 15 minutes before your ceremony begins
