Welcome to Bath’s International Summer School
The International Summer School is a one-week programme that aims to provide prospective international students with an insight into studying and student life at the University of Bath.
Over the course of the week, you will spend around two hours per day (Monday to Friday) working on academic content, alongside having a programme of optional live sessions, which will be based around life studying in the UK, the UCAS application process and learning relevant study skills.
In total we expect students to commit two to four hours of their time per day.
The academic content has been created by our world class academic staff and is aimed at challenging you and building your confidence and knowledge around your chosen subject. The lectures have been pre-recorded and will involve a short task in relation to each daily lecture.
We rely on students to be self-motivated and how much time you spend on each task is up to you, but you will find by completing them, you will be more engaged with the programme and start to develop a good understanding of your subject.
It’s also a great way to start developing those independent learning skills which will be key once you get to university. We will be providing feedback throughout the week on the tasks you have undertaken.
Watching the academic content and completing all relevant tasks before the stipulated deadline will prove that you have successfully completed the summer school and will unlock the guaranteed offer.
Throughout the week, there will also be the chance to engage with our Student Ambassadors through the Microsoft Teams space and the final session of the week will be a live Q&A.
If you have any questions you would like to ask them about their journey to university or what it is like to be a University of Bath student, this is your chance to do so!
Structure of the week
Academic sessions
Over the course of the week, we will release the daily academic sessions at 09:00 (BST). The sessions will be pre-recorded in video format and will be added to the Microsoft Teams space with a corresponding assignment for you to complete.
Ideally, you should aim to complete each session on the day it is released, however we do have flexibility given time zones and other commitments.
Live sessions
Over the week, we will also have a programme of optional live sessions on applying to university and study skill sessions that you may like to attend. These will take place live at 12:00 to 13:00 (BST), Monday to Friday and will also be recorded and uploaded to the Microsoft Teams space.
The schedule of live talks will be published soon and communicated via email in the week preceding the summer school.
We will provide joining instructions, access to the MS Teams space and a subject stream overview on the week commencing 3 August.
