Explore our Human Library for Knowledge Exchange

Welcome to the Knowledge Exchange Human Library, a place where real people are on loan to readers at the University.

This Human Library is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can explore Knowledge Exchange experiences and mechanisms through dialogue, where topics are discussed openly between human books and their readers.

Please use the contact details to arrange a mutually convenient time with one of our "books", you can “borrow” the experts by arranging a chat (maybe over coffee) to find out more about the KE they do.

We will be updating the library with more books at regular intervals, so please come back frequently to browse our library.

I am an experienced researcher of funeral costs and state welfare at the end of life, having conducted several contract research projects. I enjoy working with external organisations and partners, and over the years have undertaken a variety of KE projects. These projects have been varied in their size and scope, and have included report writing, desk-based research, interviewing and consultations, analysis, and media work.

  • Partnership building and teaching

The interest in Knowledge Exchange originates from the link between Theory and Practice. For me, this mainly originated from research with organisations, teaching my findings to MBA students and then linking this back to organizational practice through live case studies. My work has shifted to humanitarian organisations where I believe KE will have impact on society.

  • Virtual Study Groups

I have spent my entire career applying mathematics to industrial applications. I am a strong advocate of (virtual) study groups which bring teams of mathematicians together with industrialists to work together in problem solving- an incredibly powerful way of doing knowledge exchange. I am the Director of KE for Institute of Mathematical Innovation, and a founder of V-KEMS (virtual forum for knowledge exchange in mathematics).
