Teaching Fellow as Business-Design Co-Ordinator with Industry

The Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks to appoint a Teaching Fellow to lead and coordinate the Group Business and Design Project (GDBP). The role includes liaising with industrial partners and academics to identify, specify and ultimately approve industry-based group design projects suitable for undergraduates in Mechanical Engineering. Such projects will have sufficient technical and business depth for teams of five to six students to complete an industry-relevant design project over an academic semester.

The successful applicant will work in a progressive academic environment, and will benefit from the supportive, collaborative and well-organised Department and Faculty system at the University. There is a strong culture of providing newly-appointed academic staff the necessary support and freedom to develop their academic careers. Although there is no specific research component to this role, research experience to inform teaching is regarded as a positive attribute in applicants.

Applicants should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and relevant industrial experience.

Applications should include a CV and a two page statement of their approach to teaching and any relevant experience

Informal enquiries about the posts may be made via email or telephone to Professor Gary Lock, Head of Department (g.d.lock@bath.ac.uk Tel: 01225-386854) or Dr Elies Dekoninck Head of Design (e.a.dekoninck@bath.ac.uk Tel: 01225-384029)
