The Faculty of Engineering and Design is looking to appoint a Senior Technician to provide support to our instrumentation and electronics team, covering both teaching and research activities. 

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing electronics and software support to staff and students as required for various project activities. A broad general knowledge of electronics hardware and software development is essential. The role will also require a good understanding of data acquisition and control systems, including associated hardware.

You will work closely with customers in order to identify and understand their requirements, and to deliver innovative solutions to satisfy these. As part of the Instrumentation team, you will work with technical staff and other colleagues across the Faculty to maintain and deliver a high quality support service to the teaching and research efforts of the university’s engineering departments.

Applicants should be qualified to GCSE level and ideally hold a BTEC Higher National Certificate / Diploma level in a relevant subject and be able to demonstrate competence and experience in programming at a systems level. Previous experience of working within a higher education or research environment would be an advantage.
