We are looking for Lecturers with an emerging international reputation to join our academic team in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. We would like you to strengthen our teaching and research with your interests in one or more areas related to regenerative design and/or digital design for the built environment.  This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Designing and engineering sustainable and adaptable built environments and communities; 
  • Creative design and engineering solutions to climate change, including subjects such as designing for disassembly, net zero carbon and offsite production; 
  • Humanitarian and community centred design and engineering; 
  • Digital technologies and approaches, including generative design and creative use of digital technologies to deliver client value; Intelligent buildings and cities, including Integrated approaches to the complete life cycle of buildings; 
  • Digital twins for construction. 

Please note, we are not looking for expertise solely in BIM or finite element analysis.

You will be expected to have a strong track record of high quality publications and potential to attract significant research funding.  You will teach our undergraduate and postgraduate students, and be expected to attract and supervise PhD students.

The department offers undergraduate, taught postgraduate and PhD research programmes related to both Civil Engineering and Architecture, and our Civil Engineering and Architecture students collaborate with each other on some interdisciplinary design projects as part of their undergraduate degrees. Our research activity covers a broad range of areas and we collaborate within the Department, across the University of Bath and with external partners in delivering high quality research in the context of climate change and delivering a sustainable built environment.
