The Technical Support team for the Faculty of Engineering and Design require a highly skilled, adaptable and self-motivated Electronics and Systems Developer to provide technical and programming support within its main electronics and instrumentation services workshop.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical support for electronics, systems and software development to staff and students as required to support a wide variety of concurrent projects. Substantial knowledge of electronics and Instrumentation systems is essential.

The successful applicant will also be able to demonstrate a good understanding of general electronic systems and programming techniques. Experience in the development of software, with specific knowledge of LabView programming and in the development of embedded systems (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PIC) is highly desirable.

You will work closely with customers in order to identify and understand their requirements, and to deliver innovative solutions to satisfy these. As part of the Instrumentation team, you will work with technical staff and other colleagues across faculty to maintain and deliver a high quality support service to the teaching and research efforts of the university’s engineering departments.

Applicants should be qualified to BTEC Higher National Certificate / Diploma level in electronics and be able to demonstrate competence and experience in electronics and programming at a systems level. Previous experience of working within a higher education or research environment would be an advantage.

This full time (36.5 hour) position is offered on an open-ended contact at a commencing salary of £26,243 per annum, rising to £32,236 per annum through annual increments, subject to satisfactory service.
